Analysing technology

„SpeciMold“ from Brabender is an inline specimen-injection moulding system for recipe optimisation and quality assurance in the area plastic processing. The system subdivides into the heated SpeciMold blocks by piston and nozzle and a tool shape, which is opened and closed via a toggle lever mechanism. It is used in the classical compounding line between twin-screw extruder and nozzle head. The toggle lever mechanism corresponds primarily with the design of a conventional injection-moulding machine. The guides of the moved form plate as well as the support of the toggle lever are solved by igus® plain bearings from the drylin® R series: Four plain bearings are used in the executed version with lowered bearing clearance RJuM-12-30. The mechanics of the toggle lever is in addition supported by two press-fit bushes drylin® R-WLM. The stability of the process could only be reached with the use of these plain bearings. Besides solving the mechanical problems, a maintenance- and lubrication-free bearing is advantageous, especially for laboratory users.
