Train brake with iglidur plain bearings
The rail network is exposed to increasingly high loads as more and more people and goods are transported by rail. This also leads to higher stress for turnouts. Hence, components are required that withstand the constant stress. Therefore, iglidur plain bearings and thrust washers made of high-performance polymers are used in switch devices. The service life of these plain bearings can be calculated with free igus online tools.

A constant functionality of the switch device must be guaranteed despite weather and vibrations. igus plain bearings are perfectly suited for this use. All iglidur materials contain incorporated solid lubricants, which make additional lubrication and maintenance redundant. They are fully operational despite heat or cold and corrosion-free due to their material composition. Due to their load distribution over a large area, iglidur plain bearings can be combined in switch devices with both  soft and hardened shafts.
